Hi, I’m Kevin. I’m a designer, artist, educator and organizational leader.

For over two decades, I’ve been lucky to be at the center of the design community – collaborating with amazing peers, coworkers, students and clients. I recently took a personality profile which explained my human-centered leadership.  “You serve by leading and lead by serving. You charge ahead encouraging us to take the journey with you, yet the journey is never about you.” This perfectly summarizes my role with organizations like Struck, the University of Utah, and AIGA. Through these experiences, I’ve had the opportunity to blend my strengths in design, strategy, business and culture.

As Head of Talent & Operations at Struck, I support the forward advancement of all agency functions. I’ve spearheaded many initiatives including the adoption of the Parental Pledge, creation of a Diversity & Inclusion Taskforce, and building an extensive Design Thinking methodology. All while juggling the typical agency challenges of new business pitches, deadlines, profitability and much more. I teach design at the University of Utah and recently helped launch the new Design Strategy curriculum to be implemented into the new Design Degree.

With AIGA, the professional association for design, I learned what it truly means to be a part of something special. Locally, I co-founded Salt Lake Design Week, served as President of our chapter, built a robust board, and brought together the talent in our community. Nationally, I represented all 60 chapter presidents with my seat on the national board as President’s Council Chair. Later to become a national board member, serving on the executive team.

I am at my best when I’m doing something I’ve never done before. With AIGA that meant challenging tasks like choosing the next CEO of the organization as a member of the search committee, and being a part of controversial decisions that ensured the financial viability of the organization. I welcome uncertainty and risk because instinctively, I am a resourceful person. I see the world as a friendly place where good things can happen.

When I’m not collaborating with the design community, I continue to find joy in painting, drawing, collaging and designing. Recently, I led the brand strategy and rebrand for the Utah Arts Festival, one of the top festivals in the country, which signaled a new era for the Festival as they near their 50th anniversary. My work has been recognized by some of the industry’s most respected organizations and publications including AIGA and Print Magazine. In 2014, I was selected by Graphic Design USA as one of the “People to Watch”.
